Events and activities run throughout the year along Madeira Drive and nearby. Some are massive, such as the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton Bike Ride, the Mini Run and the Ace Cafe Brighton Burn Up (a motorcycle event); some are more small scale. (Click on the Key Events menu to see more information about a specific event.) Madeira Drive is Brighton's largest hard surface outdoor events space. It is the seafront road which runs east from Brighton Pier for about 2 miles to Black Rock, just next to Brighton Marina. On weekdays it is also a major car parking area with 363 spaces. It is also home to the Brighton Wheel, the Yellowave Beach Volleyball venue, Concorde 2 (live music and night club venue), Peter Pan's playground, a newly-revamped adventure / crazy golf course, the historic Volks Electric Railway, a vast shingle beach, and much more (see Places menu).
On events days the road (or parts of it , depending on the size of the event) is closed off, but the beach-side pavement is always open to the public, except when the Brighton Speed Trials are held in September, when it would be too dangerous to have the pavement in use.
Brighton Run is not soley about events and places on Madeira Drive, though that is the core of its content, it also covers activities and places of interest around Brighton & Hove, and around Sussex. Take a look!
